Years back when Michigan Conservative Coalition first formed, our goal was to steer the Republican Party back to its platform. One of the ways we did this was to engage the GOP community, create activists, and recruit people to run for local offices. We hosted a two day conference Battle Cry, where we laid out the “flags” that would need to be captured to start to turn our party around. We recognized that we would have to replace some of the “establishment” types with real conservatives. Since its inception, we have seen many of our members step up to run and be elected to their city councils and library boards. 2018 was a devastating year for Michigan Republicans, but MCC members pressed on. We are proud to announce that the following advances have been made. Matt Maddock was elected to the Lansing house representing the 44th district. Meshawn Maddock was elected as the Chair of the 11th Congressional District. Diane Schneidlbeck was elected Chair of Newaygo County. Marian Sheridan was elected Vice Chair of Grassroots for MIGOP, and Rosanne Ponkowski was elected Vice-Chair of the Oakland County Republican Party. This is a great start, but there are still many “flags” to capture.
